AI assistant settings
Switch the AI assistant on for the platform, choose a provider and model, store keys, set prices and limits, and give dealerships an AI budget.
The AI assistant lets dealership staff ask questions about their own data. It is off everywhere until the platform owner switches it on here, connects a model provider, enters prices, and gives individual dealerships an AI budget. This page covers the platform side; dealers' own settings are in Budgets and permissions.
Before you start #
- You must be the platform owner. The page needs
settings.manage, which no other platform role has. - Review the provider's data-handling, retention and training terms before you turn on a paid provider.
Turn the assistant on #
- Open Security & settings › AI assistant.
- Under Switch, provider and model:
- Turn on AI available on the platform. Turning it off later stops everything, including questions already running, at their next step.
- Choose the Provider: demo, Anthropic, or OpenAI-compatible.
- Enter the Model id. For Anthropic the default is
claude-sonnet-5-5;claude-opus-5-5,claude-haiku-5-5or any other id also work. For an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, enter the id it expects.
- Select Save.
A setting fixed in the server's .env (such as AI_ENABLED or AI_DEFAULT_PROVIDER) shows as locked.
Store provider credentials #
- Under Provider credentials, paste the Anthropic key and/or the OpenAI-compatible key, and the OpenAI-compatible base URL if you use one.
- Select Save credentials.
Keys are encrypted and write-only: they are never shown again, sent to a browser or sent to a model. Leave a field blank to keep the stored key, or tick its remove box to delete it.
Allow the endpoint #
Under Endpoint allowlist, list the exact host names the platform may call, one per line. api.anthropic.com is listed by default.
- Every host must use HTTPS and resolve only to public addresses. Redirects are refused and responses are size-capped.
- Self-hosted on a private network is only for a model server you run yourself. Those hosts may use private addresses and plain HTTP. Loopback and cloud-metadata addresses are always refused. A private host must also be on the allowlist.
Select Save allowlist.
Enter model prices #
Under Model prices, enter the input and output price in US dollars per 1 million tokens for each model, from your provider's price list. Select Save prices.
Set limits #
Under Limits, adjust the safety caps and select Save limits. The defaults are:
| Limit | Default |
|---|---|
| Questions running at once: platform / per dealership | 8 / 2 |
| HTTP timeout / total time per question | 45 s / 120 s |
| Model calls / tool calls per question | 6 / 8 |
| Output tokens per call / tokens per question | 1,500 / 60,000 |
| Tokens per dealership per month | 0 (no cap; dollar budgets still apply) |
| Questions per user per hour / per dealership per hour / per IP per 10 minutes | 30 / 200 / 40 |
| Open questions per user | 3 |
| Failures before pausing a provider / pause length / HTTP retries | 3 / 120 s / 1 |
Give a dealership AI access and a budget #
- Open Dealerships › Organizations and select the dealership.
- Under Plan, caps and budgets, turn AI on and enter the AI monthly budget in US dollars.
- Select Save caps and budgets.
- The dealership's owner then switches the assistant on and sets their own budget (up to yours) under Settings › Settings & domains › AI assistant.
Without this override, AI is off and the budget is $0 for that dealership. None of the standard plans include the assistant.
Monitor #
The same page shows:
- Provider health: each provider's state, last error and last success. If a provider was paused after repeated failures, select Unpause.
- Questions running and waiting.
- Usage by dealership for the current month.
- Security events for the last 30 days, such as prompt-injection patterns, refused tool calls and budget stops.
