Your OEM catalog

Load your own model catalog from a CSV file so model codes fill in year, model, trim, MSRP and specs on new units and imports, without overwriting anything.

Last updated For inventory managers Documentation for MotoDealerHQ 1.0.0-beta.1 “Assen”

Manufacturers' model codes carry a lot of information: year, model, trim, MSRP, options and specs. The OEM catalog lets you load that data once from a CSV file and use it to fill blank fields on units you add by hand or import. It never overwrites a value, and every vehicle records which source filled which field.

Sources and what they can do #

Open Inventory › OEM catalog to see the sources.

The OEM catalog page. Numbers match the list below.
  1. Sources and their status.
  2. Look up a make and model code, a year or a VIN to test what a source returns.
  3. Load your catalog (CSV): choose a file and select Upload catalog.
  4. Your catalog lists your entries, with a search box and Delete per entry.

Load your catalog #

  1. Export your model list from your manufacturer portal or price book into a CSV file.
  2. Make sure it has these columns:
    • make and model_code (required);
    • optionally year (blank means any year), model, trim, vehicle_type, msrp and options (separate options with |);
    • any other column (for example engine, transmission or displacement_cc) is kept as a spec.
  3. Open Inventory › OEM catalog.
  4. Under Load your catalog (CSV), choose the file and select Upload catalog.

A row with the same make, model code and year as an existing entry replaces it, so you can re-upload an updated price book at any time.

Fill a vehicle from the catalog #

  1. Open the vehicle and find Identity and catalog data.
  2. Under Fill blank fields from, choose Your catalog (model code) and type the Model code. (Or choose NHTSA vPIC (VIN) if the VIN decoder is on.)
  3. Select Fill blanks.

Only empty fields are filled. The panel then lists the Catalog provenance: which source filled which fields, and when.

Fill units during imports #

In a feed import, map the column that holds the model code to attributes.model_code. Blank fields on imported units are filled from your catalog the same way.

Tips #

  • Re-upload your catalog when model-year pricing changes, so new units get the current MSRP.
  • Use Look up to test a model code before you rely on it in an import.
  • Keep model codes exactly as the manufacturer writes them, so they match your feeds.
