Social posts and ad copy
Write social posts with vehicle photos and tracked links, get them approved and scheduled, and get ready-made ad headlines for every vehicle.
Social posts let you write a post once, attach vehicle photos and a tracked link, get it approved, and publish it to your channels or post it yourself. Ad copy gives you ready-made headlines and descriptions for each vehicle, sized for Google and Meta ads.
Before you start #
- Your plan must include the Marketing feature (Pro and Enterprise).
- You need
marketing.viewto see posts and ad copy, andmarketing.manageto write, approve and publish posts.
Write a social post #
- Open Marketing › Social posts and select New post.
- Optionally choose a Vehicle (available or pending units) and select Use this vehicle.
- Write the Post text.
- Tick up to 4 of the vehicle's Photos.
- Enter the Link to (page on your website), for example the vehicle page.
- Optionally set Publish at (your time) to schedule the post.
- Choose the Channels and select Save draft.
(open full size)- Vehicle. Pick a unit to use its photos and details.
- Text. Your message. Each channel gets its own tracked link at the end.
- Save draft. Nothing is published until the post is approved.
Each channel's caption ends with its own tracked link, so leads from the post are credited to that channel. Text is shortened if needed so the link always fits the channel's limit.
Approve and publish #
- Open the post and select Send for approval.
- A person with
marketing.manageopens it and selects Approve. If your dealership requires a second approver, the author cannot approve their own post. - Approved posts publish to connected channels straight away, or at the scheduled time.
- To post by hand, use Copy and download: copy each channel's caption, download the photos, post them yourself, then select I posted this on … for that channel.
(open full size)- New post. Start a draft.
- Channel status. Which channels are connected, and what is missing for the others.
- Auto drafts, second approver. Optional settings for your dealership.
Editing an approved post sends it back to draft. Cancel post stops one that has not gone out. The post's History lists every attempt per channel. A channel shows Published only when the platform confirmed the post; a failed or unconnected channel is shown as such, never faked.
Automatic drafts #
Under Settings on Marketing › Social posts, you can turn on "new arrival" and "price drop" drafts. MotoDealerHQ then drafts a post for available units with a photo that arrived in the last 48 hours, and for units whose price just dropped. They are drafts only: each still needs approval.
Customer privacy in posts #
Posts never include customer details. A post is refused if it contains an email address or phone number that is not your dealership's own, or the name of a customer linked to that vehicle. Sold vehicles cannot be posted, and there is no "just sold" post on purpose.
Get ad copy for a vehicle #
- Open Marketing › Ad copy.
- Find the vehicle (search by name or stock number) and select it.
- Copy the suggested Google headlines (up to 30 characters), Google descriptions (up to 90), Meta primary text (up to 125) and Meta headlines (up to 40).
(open full size)- Catalog feeds. Your Meta automotive catalog and Google vehicle listings feeds, from Inventory › Marketplaces.
- Copy per vehicle. Headlines and descriptions built from each unit's details.
(open full size)The copy is built from fixed templates using the vehicle's and dealership's facts, cut at word boundaries. No AI is used. For dynamic inventory ads on Facebook, Instagram and Google, use the catalog feeds; see Marketplace feeds.
Tips #
- Turn on automatic drafts, then spend five minutes a day approving the good ones.
- Use Publish at to spread posts through the week.
- Check copied ad text against your manufacturer's advertising rules before you run it.
