These four features give your website fresh, local content. Each has its own page on your site (/blog, /team, /events and /careers), and each can also appear on your home page through a block.

Find Blog and Events under Marketing, and Team and Careers under Website.

Before you start #

  • You need website.manage to write drafts and prepare items.
  • Making something live (publishing a post or event, making a profile visible, opening a job) needs website.publish too. So does changing or deleting something that is already live.
  • Add the images you want to use in Website › Media first.

Write a blog post #

  1. Open Marketing › Blog and select New post.
  2. Enter the Title. The URL slug is made from the title unless you type one.
  3. Write a short Excerpt. It appears in post lists and in search results.
  4. Write the Post. The toolbar offers bold, italic, headings, lists, quotes and links.
  5. Choose a Cover image, add the Author name and optional Tags (comma separated).
  6. Optionally set a Publish date. A future date schedules the post: it appears on that date.
  7. Optionally fill in the SEO title and Meta description.
  8. Select Save draft, or Publish if you have publishing rights.

  2. Status. Draft or Published, with the publish date.
  3. View blog. Opens your public blog.

On a live post, the save button reads Save changes (live), and Unpublish takes the post off the blog. Your blog shows 10 posts per page, lets visitors filter by tag, and offers an RSS feed at /blog/feed.xml. After saving a post once, you can also link videos to it (see Video links).

Add team members #

Team profiles are for your website only. They are not sign-in accounts; add staff who use the console under Settings › Users.

  1. Open Website › Team and select Add team member.
  2. Enter the Name, Job title and Location.
  3. Choose a Photo, and write a Short bio (plain text).
  4. Optionally add a Public email and Public phone. Leave them empty to keep them private.
  5. Check Show on the website (needs website.publish) and select Save team member.
  6. Use the arrow buttons in the list to change the order.

  3. Choose one of your locations, or type a Venue for an event somewhere else.
  4. Write a Summary and Description, and choose an image.
  5. For RSVPs, add an RSVP link (a path on your site or an https:// address), choose an RSVP form on the event page, or both.
  6. Select Save draft or Publish.

List a job opening #

  1. Open Website › Careers and select New job opening.
  2. Enter the Position title, Employment type (full-time, part-time, seasonal, contract, internship or temporary) and Location.
  3. Write a Summary and Description.
  4. Check Open (listed on the website) (needs website.publish) and select Save job opening.
The Careers list with New job opening and the note about applications highlighted (open full size)
Careers. Applications are kept under Forms.
  1. New job opening. Create an opening.
  2. Applications. Applications arrive through the Employment application form.

Each opening gets its own page with the application form, with the position filled in. Applications do not create sales leads. They are kept under Marketing › Forms › Employment application › Submissions, and staff who manage forms are notified.

Tips #

  • Post regularly, even short posts. Local, useful content ("Winterizing your ATV") helps shoppers and search engines.
  • Keep the home page lively with the Latest blog posts, Team and Upcoming events blocks. Each block hides itself when it has nothing to show.
  • Close a job opening instead of deleting it if you might hire for it again.
