Video links
Show YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and Instagram videos on vehicle, team, blog, location and website pages by linking them instead of uploading files.
Videos sell vehicles and introduce your team. MotoDealerHQ does not store video files. You host your videos on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook or Instagram and paste the link. This saves storage and bandwidth, and your videos play in a fast, privacy-friendly player.
Where you can add videos #
| Where | How many | Shown on the website |
|---|---|---|
| A vehicle (Inventory, open the unit) | Up to 10 | On the vehicle page |
| A team member (Website › Team, open the profile) | Up to 4 | On the team page |
| A blog post (Marketing › Blog, open the post) | Up to 10 | On the post |
| A location (Settings › Locations, open the location) | Up to 6 | On the location page |
| Any page, with the Videos block | As many as you list | Where you place the block |
| The Testimonials block | One per testimonial | Beside the quote |
Customer records, service appointments and repair orders can also hold video links. Those stay private to your staff and are never shown on the website.
Supported links #
- YouTube: normal videos, Shorts (shown vertically), live streams and embed links. A start time in the link is kept. YouTube Music, channels and playlists are not supported.
- Vimeo: including unlisted videos.
- Facebook: page videos, watch links, Reels and fb.watch links.
- Instagram: Reels and posts.
Facebook and Instagram videos play only if the post is public and its owner allows embedding.
Add a video link #
- Open the record, for example a team member under Website › Team. Save new records once first; the Videos panel appears after the first save.
- In the Videos panel, paste the address into Video link. A preview tells you whether the link is supported.
- Optionally type a Title.
- Select Add video.
- To change the order, drag the videos (or focus one and use the arrow keys) and select Save order. The first video shows first.
- Use Edit to change a video's title or description, or Remove to unlink it. Removing the link never deletes the video from YouTube or the other service.
(open full size)- Paste a link. Copy the address from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook or Instagram.
- Add video. Links the video to this record.
To add videos to a page instead, open the page in Website › Pages, add a Videos (YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram) block, and list the links in it.
How videos play on your website #
- Until a visitor presses play, the page shows a thumbnail and contacts no video service. Your pages stay fast, and nothing is shared with the video service before the visitor chooses to watch.
- When the visitor presses play, the video loads in the privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com for YouTube, and Vimeo with "do not track").
- Players fit the video's shape: wide, vertical (Shorts and Reels) or square-ish.
- For YouTube and Vimeo, the title and thumbnail can be fetched automatically from the video's public page when your server is allowed to make outside requests. Otherwise, a neutral poster is shown; add a title yourself.
Tips #
- A 30 to 90 second walk-around is often enough for a vehicle page.
- Set YouTube videos to Public or Unlisted. Private videos will not play for shoppers.
- Give each video a clear title, for example "2026 Sea-Doo GTX 170 walk-around".
