Adding and managing locations
Add a rooftop, give it a stable code, and choose what each store shows on your website and in marketplace feeds, including a temporarily closed banner.
A location is one physical store, which MotoDealerHQ also calls a rooftop. Vehicles, leads, appointments, service work and staff access all belong to a rooftop. The list of locations also drives the store pages and store picker on your website.
Before you start #
- Your plan sets how many locations you can have. Every plan includes one. Adding a second location needs a plan with Multiple locations, and the plan's Locations limit caps the total. If you are at the limit, the console says so when you try to add one. See plans and trials.
- You need the
locations.manageorgroup.managepermission (see Permissions).
See your locations #
Open Settings › Locations. The plan limit is shown next to Add location.
(open full size)- Rooftop code — a short, stable code for the store. It is used in reports, imports, feeds, transfers and the group overview.
- Website status — Shown or Hidden on your website, plus notes such as "Vehicles not published", "Closed banner" or "Not in feeds by default".
- Edit — opens the location form.
The In stock column counts the location's available vehicles.
Add a location #
- Open Settings › Locations and select Add location.
- In Details, enter the Name and address. The URL slug sets the address of the store page on your website, for example
/locations/orange-park. - Enter a Rooftop code, or leave it blank and one is made from the name. Codes use 1–16 letters, digits or dashes and must be unique in your account.
- Add the main, sales and service phone numbers, an email and, if you want a map pin, the latitude and longitude.
- Choose the options at the bottom of Details:
- Primary location — your main store. Only one location can be primary; the first location you add becomes primary automatically.
- Show on website — lists the store on your website's locations page.
- Publish this rooftop's vehicles on the website, sitemap and feeds — turn this off to keep the store's units off the website, search, deposits and buy online, and out of every marketplace feed.
- Set the store's Hours (free text, such as "9:00 AM – 6:00 PM" or "Closed") and any extra Department phone numbers, such as a title office.
- Under Leads & appointments, enter a lead notification email for this store, the appointment length and minimum notice, and whether it accepts test rides and service requests.
- Select Save location.
Choose what each rooftop shows on your website #
Each location has a Website publication card. Every switch is on by default. Records that do not belong to a rooftop are never affected.
(open full size)- Rooftop page — when off, the store's own page redirects to your locations page and leaves the sitemap. The store's card still appears on the locations page.
- Team members, events and promotions of this rooftop — when off, that content is hidden from the website and the sitemap. To tie a promotion to a store, set its Rooftop field (see promotions and forms).
- Include this rooftop's vehicles in marketplace feeds by default — when off, the store's units go only to marketplace channels whose rooftop filter lists this store. See marketplace feeds.
- Temporarily closed — shows a "temporarily closed" strip on every public page and a note on the store's card. Add the Banner text and, optionally, the Last closed day; the banner disappears after that day.
Delete a location #
Open the location and select Delete location. MotoDealerHQ refuses if the location still has vehicles, leads, appointments, service requests, deals, service records, tax profiles or stock transfers. Move them first, or hide the location from the website instead. Team members, events, job openings, chats and promotions that only mention the store stay, without the store.
Tips #
- Use Display order to set the order of stores on your website and in the console.
- A store that is renovating does not need to be hidden: turn on the closed banner and point customers to your other stores in the banner text.
- To give a manager control of one store only, see rooftop admins.
